Google already has the algoritms for displaying relevant information for non-keyword searches(as shown by Basil), the thing is that it is not presented as it is in powerset, so that might be the only thing Microsoft could benefit from, by making search more interactive, and not as dry?, or perhaps not?

[...] TechCrunchIT goes into detail on how effective Powerset may be as a weapon. But a few things are clear - the resource limitations (cash and computing resources) that slowed Powerset’s development are now history. The relevance problem is less important since Microsoft core search relevance is quite good. And users really seem to like the beta launch of Powerset even with the limited dataset.
this will help Microsoft to bear Google
nothing is perfect in this world.
Microsoft has a gr8 history
SQL SERVER 2000 to SQL SERVER 2005 they really rock the database market
with .NET they are heavily capturing the web development market that was mainly all about java
Windows Server 2008 is very good and easily beat any server operating system
their is a vision behind Microsoft (computer at every desk) not like any other company like Google they only want beat Microsoft.
Microsoft can also beat Google. there is noting impossible in this World

Nik,

Though I would like to see someone compete with Google... the reality of the matter is that someone is going to need to produce results 100x more relevant than and 10 times faster to see any meaningful change in user habits. Without some major paradigm shift in search or just in "discovery" in general, I don't see anyone in the near future making any meaningful dent in Google's search dominance... their technology, infrastructure, brand, and momentum is going to be hard to beat... I don't see powerset being the solution (at least not in the current form)
