I keep reading about how Facebook should go real-time. Isn't the point of Facebook that it originally replaced the "facebook" printed on college campuses? It's supposed to be a place to put information, photos, basically a collection of personal homepages. Regardless of how we use it now, it's core value is information storage, not real-time info streams.

Why exactly would Facebook be more afraid of FriendFeed than Twitter? Right now, FriendFeed isn't that well known...

Srry, don't want it. I don't want EVERYTHING in one place.

I want to see everything happening in different places from one window, ala Seesmic Desktop.

But don't want it all interconnected. Get the diff? probably not. I have friends in different places because they are different kinds of friends, doing different things and interested in different topics.

And nothing personal, but the vid was a little scary. I suggest a vacation (and maybe a straightjacket).

I think you should watch this video about the soon to be released application called Sorff. It's not exactly what you're talking about yet... but I can tell you it will be, kind of, in a way, but maybe not... well see soon!

BTW, this post has been Sorffed.

If your team could get to Cisco solution centers in your respective cities you could also try this in an HD format. While the prospect of a symmetric 25 Mbps optimized MPLS network (cross carrier?) might seem like overkill, it would in technical terms -- rock.

I'm guessing that each of you could maybe push 700 Kbps at your locations no accounting for the jitter and delay for the video you'd be muxing from your homes. If Leo or others with business connectivity can get higher speed, lower hop, and lesser latency -- great.

Show us the Buck Rogers approach. Capture it in HD format and push it out... see if people -like- the feel of being in the same room (painted similarly) and then let -one- of the team come in on SD to the mux from their lowly home broadband connection.

Then see who is talking over the other folks. Then see how well the realtime is now becoming another in a series of competitive differentiators for business meeting proxemics.
