Not sure if I’d describe this as “streaming” as the emphasis seems on “real-time processing” of the data. Notwithstanding, it appears that those able to afford such a system will have available to them a way to exploit noted and modeled tendencies in collective behavior. At least until another company develops a faster more robust system.
Of course, people can always act in ways that are unanticipated, and if high risk decisions are resting on this type of system; given the narrow timeframes indicated, we could well see some significant miscalculation cost some trader his bonus.
